8/24/09  Welcome to our newest members: Sherilyn, Lisa, John, David.  We now have 71 members.  And, it was great to see many of you last week.  --Grant

7/27/09  We now have 50 paid responses for the Grand 35th Reunion Dinner with the GHS Class of '74'.

The RSVP date has passed, but we are still able to include you - if you act very, very quickly.  You must mail your payment to Clorinda now, or call her with a good excuse, like "I forgot. My dog ate the invitation, ... er ... what invitation?"  Since YOU are getting old, WE understand.

If you can't attend, let us know, to save us some work knocking on your doors.  Keep in touch.

And, the picnic is still being planned.

"A splendid time is guaranteed for all."

--Grant

7/12/09  The reunion information is at Thirty Fifth Reunion.

Please help us find lost classmates.  Check the Lost Classmates list.  If you have any information, please email to Grant.

June 19, 2008: I'm looking to get in touch with Cindy Lawton Ostrander. Can anybody help? Cindy and I became good friends while attending Sac State in the late '70s. We later became roommates and then we lost touch. Does anyone have her e-mail address? Or could someone please tell her that Cathy Cassinos is trying to reach her? I may be reached at 916-201-5341 or via e-mail at CCassinos@aol.com. Thank you!

19 May 2008  Hello again,  I just want to let "whomever" may want to know, that after nearly 14 years, I will be in Gilroy, along with my husband John and my Mom.  Mom wanted to come down for a visit and see a few folks that she hasn't seen since her last trip back in 2001.  I have already contacted a few people to let them know we are coming down.  Unfortunately it will be a quick trip as both John and I are taking time off work, and we also have had to get someone in to take care of all the critters here....dogs, cats, chickens, and of course the washing of the eggs they produce and get them into town for us.....we do have some great friends for sure...... darn boys have grown up and have lives of their own, imagine that.  lol  I think I am getting excited, ok I know I am.    Take care, Fran

I guess I should have said when, (You Think? LOL)  We should be in Gilroy on Tuesday.

01/03/08  Hello All and Happy New Year,  I seem to be getting into the habit of posting something in January, but this year I am getting to it sooner.  Hey Steve, how goes life?  Yes, if you run into Brian please let him know I am trying to reach him, thanks.  Mom is well, she has been living in Washington State since 04, but I have been approved by the gov. of Canada to sponsor her to move here to live with us.  3 of the 4 boys were home for Christmas, it was nice to have them here. My oldest, James is down in Vancouver Wash. for now but wants to get back to Canada and back to school. Sean, 22, is now going to BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) in the Navigational Marine Officers course,  Tim 20, just finished at BCIT this fall from the welding course (those 2 are living together down on the mainland) , the youngest Dave 18, graduated this past June, has been, (and will be going back out, they took a break for Christmas) commercial fishing, wants to make money for school so he doesn't have to rely on student loans or work while in school like his  brothers if he can help it.   We are planning to make a trip to California with Mom in the late Spring/ early Summer.  Mom would  like to see some folks that she hasn't seen in a few years.  I believe the last time she was there was just after Bill was married in '01, I haven't been back since '94, looking forward to showing my husband where I grew up.  Well I guess I will post this now,  Wishing everyone all the best in this New Year. Francelia Trevor (Baker)

4/9/07 Greetings All, Thank you Grant for posting about Mr. Pine. He was a good man. A sweet reminder of the shortness of life. God bless you all.

01/29/07 Hi everyone. Just thought I'd check to see anything new here. Not much new with me or I'd type something. It's just cold that is all. Francelia any luck with Brian Van Winkle? Was he in our class? I vaguely remember the name. Maybe you can go to google.com and type in his name. If you could remember the area he was moving to you might be able to find him. Good Luck. I have alot of address books and I do the same thing~ I lose them or wonder where I wrote something.  I've thought about putting them all into one but I never get around to it. I just keep them all thrown in one drawer~ that is organized enough for me these days.

Diane Britt

01/21/07  I was hoping that someone might have heard from or seen Brian Van Winkle?  I haven't heard from him in a while, the last time I tried the number we have for him, it wasn't working.  He was moving and sent me the new address, but it seems to be missing along with my old address book.  I would have asked sooner, but I have just figured out how to use this site.  Thanks.  Francelia Trevor (Baker)

07/12/06 Today I received from Jennine Powell a copy of the Gilroy Dispatch dated Dec 29/1976 with the picture taken during my visit to Gilroy 30 years ago. It took less than two months to recover such a great memory by means of this web site. Thanks Jeannine!.

Grant, I appreciate your support, your a great guy.--Guillermo Torres from Acapulco, Mexico

11/25/06  Happy Thanksgiving.  We received a request for help to locate a friend.  Please go to Looking For Patricia Lynn Scott for details.  The page requires login, so as to protect the email address.  --Grant

11/13/06 Very well said.  Maybe this is the answer that we have been seeking, but knew all along.  Who  is leaving quotes anonymously?  If you would log in, or at least leave a signature, then we would be ahead by one answer, and not left with just another question. --Grant

11/13/06 Marilyn vos Savant (a columnist) was asked "Why do our high school experiences occupy such a prominent place in our memories?"  She replied that "During high school, we develop the most vigorous adult bodies we will ever have.  At the same time, we possess the least amount of sense we will ever have.  This combination produces many memorable moments."

10/13/06 My name is Guillermo Torres, I am mexican. In 1976 Lori Lepper and Jeannine Baldwin came to Mexico; my friend Ruben and I were their hosts around the tourist places in Mexico city and Puebla. Later, Ruben and I paid the visit and went to Gilroy where a journalist took a picture of all of us which was printed in the cover of a local newspaper; I came across this High School site because I was looking for the Gilroy´s newspaper in order to get a copy of that picture, since I have none of myself at that age. I was glad to find this site and would like, if possible, to get in touch with Lori and Jeannine (I saw Jeannine´s photos, she has not changed at all). Thanks, memodylan@yahoo.com.mx

10/3/06 If only someone could/would organize a big 50th birthday party and everyone who was turning 50 attended!

09/29/06 I'm looking to buy copies of old yearbooks from 1971 thru 1974. if anyone knows of any available for sale, please contact me. stevea@missionbell.com

9/24/06  Here is a message that came to us.  If you have anything to help John, let me know.  I won't publish his email address on the web.  Maybe someone could put out a message on classmates.com.  --Grant

Hello,

I am John Crocker.  I live in San Antonio TX. I Graduated in 1966 and was trying to find a picture of me in high school cause I have none of me at that age so I was wondering if you can help me by seeing if you can find some of me too. I would really appreciate it a lot.

10/04/06 Grant if you could give this message to John Crocker. My sisters remember you. And my brother in law. They are going to look in their yearbooks and if they can find a picture of you I can send it on. My oldest sister Kathy said she remembers you. How many Crockers were there? Is this the Crockers that were always working on cars? One of my sisters said she didn't know if she'd find you in a year book. She told on you and said you 'cut' alot.....but then who didn't. ;-)) You must be Dave Crocker's (from our class) brother.  Diane Kannely Britt

9/23/06  I stopped on the way through Gilroy yesterday to take some photos to share with you all.  See the the senior plaque on the Home page.  (Thanks, Clorinda.  It was just where you said.)  When I clean my garage one day, I may find the original drawings for it.  Follow the links on the Gilroy High Campus page to photos of the campus, and also to Brownell.

Thanks for the good wishes, Jeannine.  I didn't do anything special.  Guess I just forgot. :) --Grant

9/20/06  I just thought I would take a moment to wish everyone a "Happy 50th Birthday."  Mine is quickly approaching, and I realized that this is an event that I am sharing with a lot of people I know!  For some of you, the actual date has passed, for some it is coming soon.  How have you celebrated this occasion?  Does it seem possible to be 50 years old?  Jeannine

8/22/06 I hadn't seen them but I went back and looked and found them. Looks like you've been a few places this summer. The art in the pictures from Seoul Korea are really good. It looks to be more interesting in Seoul than Germany. What car is that that looks like a blue skate in Germany. It is so small. I wouldn't want to run into a truck in that thing~but it is neat looking. Thanks for posting them. When I got to picture 138 of the Seoul ones I started getting an X in the corner? Did you know that? You took some really good pictures. Oh and where was I going in North Dakota just needed to drive through it to get up to the top of Minnesota so we could go up to northeast Minnesota~which by the way is very pretty. If I had to move I'd want to move there. We were going to go Pigeon River Falls but since there was a big forest fire went south before we got there and just drove down the north shore of Lake Superior. Which was nice also. Diane

08/21/06 Hello, Diane.  It is great to hear from you.  What did you expect to find interesting at the end of the boring road in North Dakota?  BTW, did you see my new travel photo links from my page?

08/21/06 Well okay ....no one has anything to say. I can say one thing for sure. The most boring road in the whole U.S. has to be Hwy 85 through South Dakota up to North Dakota. Prairie grass, bales of hay and more bales of Hay. I did see out in a field a stove with the oven door open and painted on the side it said "open range." I found that amusing. Of course, there was not much else to look at and I'm easily amused. I did see alot of deer in the distance and lots and lots of herds of sheep. I bet those people don't like to 'go to the store for something' It would be a full day trip or longer. Okay maybe not that long but pretty close. I don't remember if it had a speed limit.....don't remember passing anyone or having anyone pass us. Matter of fact I don't remember seeing anyone. It was one boring road. So where are the other boring roads? It would be nice to know so I don't accidently go there someday. Diane

7/27/06 Oh yeah....are they going to have a herbie bobble head doll at the garlic festival this year. I haven't seen or heard anything in the Dispatch. Just wondering if anyone knows. I usually get mine on ebay. Is anyone working at it. One or two of my sisters work at it most years. It might be awfully hot this year. If I lived there I doubt I would even go to it. I don't like crowded places. Diane

7/27/06 Just passing by here.  What's new? Nothing much here. Went on a road trip for vacation. It has been very hot..of course it has been like that everywhere from what I can see. Barry why don't you finish that autobiography? Anything is better than nothing. Then we'd all have something to read. Why are you moving back to California. Don't you like Texas anymore. I always thought Texas was pretty nice...except the heat and its windy alot. I miss California sometimes too. I don't know why but I do. It seems pretty crowded there though, but then so is Texas in some places. Well does anyone have anything to say.  Oh yeah one of my nephews is in Arizona playing for the Arizona Giants. He's from Gilroy. He is also Cheryl Newton's nephew who was in our class. I watch his games on line well the log of the games. I don't know how long he will be there. Diane

6/12/06  Grant, I will be moving back to California later this summer. How do I go about changing the email address you have for me? I love getting the updates and would hate to miss out. -Barry Rockwell-

p.s. I am working on a autobiography for the class list... but the subject is so darn boring!

4/15/06  Some people's emails have been bouncing - Debbie, Frank, Leslie, Sandra, and StevenMSB.  If you see this, please update your email address.  Thanks. --Grant

3/22/06 Well I went there and listened to it. It is a very good band for high school. Impressive.  They no doubt deserved the win. It's perfect. They picked the perfect song.  I might even get on Kfox tomorrow and listen. I have a fast connection so I sometimes just listen to the radio on the computer because I can get more stations. --Diane

3/22/06 Hi,  Diane.  Nice to hear from you.  A little news about the musicians.  Michael's band won the local radio contest at http://www.kfox.com/pages/schoolofrock.html (Valley Christian High School).  You can listen to their submission from that web page.  They will be on the radio tomorrow morning, probably 8-10 AM PST.  You can listen to the station online, too.  --Grant

3/22/06  Nothing new here. Had some more snow a couple of weeks ago. We were supposed to get more this week but haven't seen any yet. That is good because someone needs to tell somebody that it is spring now. The tribute to Allen is a nice page. Thanks to his wife.I have 2 more great nieces. I'm going to have to figure out if the nieces are ahead of the nephews in count since we had 7 girls in our family, but I'd have to write them all down. I started working at a new distribution center for the company I work for. It is 10 minutes from my house now and I sure do like the short drive. I was driving an hour and it was not any fun. I did that for 4 years. I work the 3-12 hour shifts on the weekend (Sat, Sun, Mon). Which sounds horrible but I've done it for 4+years now and I don't know I kind of like the 4 days off every week. Well Loren hope you made it through the rain you had. I hope your house didn't flood. The weather has been crazy this year. Didn't it snow in Gilroy a couple weeks ago or so. Oh yeah~we had a tornado in the area a couple weeks ago. I had forgot about that. I guess when you get used to the midwest you don't get to excited about it. They even sounded the sirens but we didn't even have one in the area. It was the next town over. I think it just knocked down a couple telephone poles. pfftt. As you can tell I don't have much of anything new. Grant hows your kids band doing? I bought my kid a bass guitar for his birthday (well he hasn't got it yet), but he is going to go buy an amp today. Now I hope he brings it over his friends house. ;) And Reggie haven't heard much from you. Did you have a nice St. Patricks Day? Sounds like you probably had a nice Valentines Day. They have alot of those Beer Brewing Places in Chicago and Wisconsin has a ton of them. I'm not a beer drinker. Went on tour of the Miller Brewing Company In Milwaukee. That was pretty neat. They give you lots of samples. More than anyone should drink. :-] They have the Harley Place there too, but we were going to a baseball game and didn't have time. We have a Honda anyway and if you didn't read it you might not know it wasn't a Harley. Honda actually isn't a bad deal. I don't care I don't ride. Bye for now. Oh yeah guess I should sign my name--Diane in Illinois

2/20/06  Thanks to John Anacleto.  Give him a warm welcome.   We are all inspired by the tribute to Allan.  This is an example of the rich contributions of each new member.  Please take a little time to seek out another one of our classmates once in a while.  --Grant

02/20/06 - Steve Filice - Thank you, Grant, for posting this wonderful tribute to Allen Boos from his wife, Peggy. I never knew this amazing side to him. It makes me proud to have known him.

12/31/2005 - Hi everyone.  Loren swimming thru the flooding in Reno here.  I was called to work today to get a computer at the EOC running and couldn't get thru the roads!  Unrelenting rain has left us quite the mess.  They are saying now that it could be worse than the 1997 flood.  Stuff happens.  Happy New Year to everyone.  I agree that we need more get togethers than 1 every 5 years.  I80 is closed for 2 days now due to flood going toward CA.  Dang, this is some kind of storm and another one is due in tomorrow PM.  Bye for now--talk to you all soon.

12/21/05 - Hello Reggie.  Thanks for the update.

A Christmas get-together for the class sounds like a great idea.  I would suggest something informal, like meeting at a restaurant.  Anyone else have any ideas?

I am trying to edit your reunion attendance, but there is a problem with the editor.  I am asking for help from the service.  If anyone else has problems, drop me an email.  --Grant

12/20/05 - Regulo Zapata - Hi Grant, great to hear from you again. Yes, The Class of 74 Website is in the Holiday Spirit for Christmas and New Years. Looks real nice, cool Rain Deers moving on patrol. I hope all is well back home with the family. The Zapata family has been on the Christmas Spirit with Christmas lights up the day after Thanksgiving. Our son Cesar came home for Thanksgiving before departing to Iraq on 4 Dec 2005. We finally got a phone call from our boy located in Bagdad, Iraq a few days ago. Made us happy to hear he was in good spirits still. Crazy times we live in now. As for me, I've  been a little restless at home.

Hey Grant whats your thoughts! on having a (Class of 74 Christmas Ball) or even maybe a (New Years Eve Ball) next year in December or every year. Do you thing some folks would be interested on the idea. Possible combinding together Class of 73,74,75 in order to get a larger turn out or just our Class alone. I think it would be nice to see Classmates again. I know most companies have some kind of Christmas party also. Dude the days and years are moving too fast. Next Class Reunion is just too long ways away..

Have a great Christmas & New Years Eve!!!

Reggie Zapata

12/20/05 - Hello, Reggie.  A very Merry Christmas to you.  It's been quiet on this site.  It's time to put up the decorations - look at our Home page.  --Grant

12/20/05 - Hello Folks it's Regulo Zapata again just wanted to say Happy Holiday Seasons, Merry Christmas, Happy New Years to all. It's been a very busy year 2005. Well what can I say the holidays are here and its party time and time to be happy. I am still Christmas shopping. I starterd to check out the other website called Classmates interesting site. I am trying to locate Gilroy High friends such as Steve Bombacci, Steve Montes, Norman Abruzzni friends from track and others.  It's nice to have a GHS Class 74 website. I saw David Grant at Traders Joes in San Jose two weeks ago but was not able to talk to him before leaving the Store. Things have been well at home just busy. Getting ready for the Holidays. So what is everyone doing for Christmas Day & New Years Eve? Any tips on where to go for the New Years eve? Miss you guys..

Hello to Grant, Loren, Diane and to all..

Wishing a Happy Merry Christmas & Happy New Years Day

12/06/05 - Barb, thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.  It really is sad news.  She seemed fine last year.  You are right though, you just never know.

Have a great Christmas!   Roberta

12/05/05 Hi Roberta, this is Barb Ahlin (Rocca).  I ran into Marlene Howe in Gilroy a month or so ago and she told me about Toni passing away....what sad news!  I too really enjoyed visiting with her at the last class reunion.  I guess it is true, you never know.  Marlene was still in close contact with Toni and said that she had some bad form of arthritis and developed complications.

Hope you are well and I wish you a happy holiday season!

12/5/05 - Merry Christmas to all!  This is my first time writing.  I am shocked to hear that Toni passed away!  Can anyone tell me what happened?  I enjoyed visiting and catching up with her at the reunion last year and found out that she lived in Roseville which is around 40 minutes from where I am.  I hope everyone is well and also enjoyed seeing all who were at the reunion.  Roberta Kyle (Henry)

12/01/05 Best wishes (and some rambling thoughts) to Diane, and everyone.  I keep busy, but I always know what is happening on this site.  My cellphone gets a message within 2 hours of any change.  It's getting time for me (and some others) to update my page.  And I will get back to searching for more classmates and harassing the quiet ones.  Whoever else is out there, drop me a "hello".  I changed my email to leave behind the spam, which is up to 100 a day.  My new address is in the notification emails that most of you are getting weekly.  Yes, Gregory was the artist of the spook chase.  If you missed it, there is a link at the bottom of the home page.  We should make some tributes to others who have passed on.  Another idea is to do a web search for a classmate's name - it seems like there is a lot of public info to be found out there.  --Grant.

12/01/05 Happy Holidays! Grant, like your in memory page. That is nice. I see you haven't been on here in awhile. I guess you stay busy like the rest of us. Here it is another year almost over. It's cold here. -3 degrees out right now. I just don't like winter anymore. It's like a chore to stay warm. And I used to think 32 degrees was cold. Ha. I would guess your son did the Halloween display on the front page. He did a good job. That's about all from me. In January I have to go up to Wisconsin for my job for a couple weeks. That should be good and cold. Oh well gotta do what you gotta do. Later. Diane

09/26/05 Hey what's new.

09/01/05  Delia Diaz

Heidi,  My condolences go out to you and your family on the loss of our dear friend Jim. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I  don't know if you remember me from Jim and my twentieth yr class reunion at the Elks.  Jim was a dear friend who will truly be missed.  I have nothing but fond memories of the times we hung out back in the day.  Especially Football Homecoming.  I had the pleasure of having Jim and Frank Valdez be my escorts for that event, we had a blast.  If  you would like to get together and chat some more i can be reached by phone in the gilroy directory.  Take care of yourself.   Delia

08/10/05 Thanks Grant...worked perfect. Easier than I thought. I think the hardest part for me is taking the time to read how to do it, but sometimes you just haveta do that. Oh yeah I do other things besides this web site. I usually cruise by to see the changes about once a day....but there usually isn't many. I go by my email first...of which I need to clean out someday...read the dispatch...check this site and check my family site. I haven't been doing the genealogy stuff lately but I got some type of free software in the mail so I might do that sometime. --Diane

08/10/05 Diane, see the How To Add A Photo page, #2 in the Advanced Topics section.  What?!  You do other things besides this web site? --Grant

08/10/05 Hi Grant I was trying to work on my page. So just leave it...for now. I want to get this myself. I think I'll read the directions or something insane like that so I can get this how I want. I kept thinking my picture was small enough but when I get it to the page....good lord...it is huge.....so anyway and I want to be difficult and get it into the print but for some reason it won't let you cut and paste along side of it. Maybe if I drag the picture down to the side of the text and paste it there. I was just messing around with it for too long and need to get off the computer and do something productive like do the dishes and put another load in the dryer. hee haw the fun never ends....later Diane

8/3/2005 Heidi I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your memories of the past together will give you the inner strength to deal with the pain of the present. It never seems quite fair~especially when someone is still young. I hope you find your peace with his passing and the sadness lasts the shortest time possible. Stay Strong. Diane Kannely Britt

Nancy McGahey-Robinson  July 28, 2005

Heidi,  My deepest condolsences to you and your family.  I don't know if you knew it or not but I ran around with Jim for a while during high school.  I had been wandering what happened to him after school. I know the feeling you have knowing he is in peace now.  I lost my mom in January and have the same feeling.  I remember you from school, I am living in Gilroy again.  It would be nice to get together sometime.  My info is in the directory.  Call me sometime and we'll meet for coffee. Sincerely,  Nancy McGahey-Robinson

Heidi Franklin - July 27, 2005
I just wanted anyone who knew my husband, Jim Franklin - class of 1975, that he passed away on July 21, 2005.  His funeral is tomorrow and know that he is now at peace.

07/21/05 No Grant I don't think we should argue about American cars or foreign cars for that matter. Ford's really aren't that bad but I had one experience that my motor caught on fire on the freeway in a Ford and another time we were stuck out in the middle of the desert about 10 miles from the nearest phone and it had to be about a 100+ in a Ford....so now you know why. =)...but I've had little problems with my oldsmobile cutlass which was always my favorite car although it is in the process of being in the shop lately because it's getting old and needs alot so I decided to put the money into it...just because. And I had another Olds that was still running strong when I traded it in...and was sorry I did trade it in....I still see it around. It was an Olds Sierra I think...I guess they call them tin cans because they are nothing fancy but very dependable. Mine was for sure. It was getting rust though so got something else. Can't say much bad about foreign cars either. My sister sells Volvo somewhere up by San Jose. Can't think of the name of the dealership. What is west of San Jose? I swear I'm losing my memory. She's worked up their for quite awhile now. Before that I think she worked at Toyota in Gilroy...but that seems like quite awhile back. Volvo is German made isn't it? They are really nice cars also.

07/20/05 Our good friends at EditMe have released a new version of the software that runs this website.  The editor is all new, hopefully better.  Look for the "preview" button in the second row of the toolbar, 3rd from the right.

Also, now I can include the Javascript for my photo viewer into a page.  If you look at Thirtieth Reunion Photos, you will see them on this site, rather than on my own pacbell site.  It makes it easier for us to roam around the ghs1974 pages all in one place.  I have been experimenting with ways to annotate people's names into the photos.  I want it to be easy enough that anyone can help identify the people.  We'll see if I can figure it out.

Have you seen my new job info on my page?

BTW,  Ford -  OK, Chevy - designed by committee  (Did you see the emoticon tool?  Can we start a big argument about American cars?  All for your amusement)

--Grant

07/20/05 This is Different. Where did you get this toolbar Grant? I see you've been working on the photo viewer. What is your new job? I saw you mentioned you've been busy with your new job. By the way what is the original font and how do I get it back? Haven't quite figured this out yet. Nothing new here. No rain for Illinois..not enough anyway.  Bought a new car.  One of my kids bought a new car too.  Having a hard time taking the bold off of this. hmmm. Anyway also having a hard time believing one my kids bought a Ford...of all cars. I never had a good experience in a ford. But I guess it is not so bad. Ford Bad~ Chevy or Olds good. I guess I never stressed that enough. Well I think I got this back to original. I think it is Helvetica font? Or maybe not. Diane

July 5, 2005 Does anyone know where Frank Perino is? I went to Notre Dame in Salinas and would like to get in touch with him. If anyone knows how to get in touch with Frank, please tell him I left a message on Classmates.com for him. Thanks! Caron Pearce - Class of 76'

6/18/05 Have you ever gone to a web bage, maybe one you bookmarked, and found it missing? Or maybe you would like to see an old version of a website? Well it is possible. Almost everything on the web is archived. Do you remember Sherman and Peabody on the Bullwinkle show? (This audience is certainly old enough, but maybe losing their memories.) Enough questions. The answer is The Internet Archive: Wayback Machine. Go to http://www.archive.org/web/web.php. There is a delay of 6-12 months before archives are available. This class of '74 website has now arrived in the history books. Try it. --Grant

06/11/05 Happy Birthday Grant! I guess it is your birthday...I'm sure not 49. ;-) That is what is missing on here. I don't think we have our birthdays anywhere. Of course at this age I don't think I need to tell anyone about my birthday. I think I was born in 1965? yeah that's it. ;-) Hope you had a Happy One. You should post a baby picture of yourself. That would be neat. Diane

05/06/2005 Greetings. I have not been keeping up with the site this week. I've been distracted by starting a new job.

Marc, it's great to hear from you. I put your message at the top, since that's the order we've been using. I will get contact info to John and you. Maybe you can get him to add to the directory and his page.

Diane, I stretched your photo smaller. The trick is to click inside the image to select it, then the stretch handles appear at the corners.

--Grant

05/02/2005 Hello everyone. I have enjoyed reading the chat room comments (one of these days I will put my profile up!). I am writing for two things - first, does anyone know how to get ahold of Pat Valencia? John Falcone is interested in contacting him. Second, Grant could you resend my password (I have misplaced it) Thanks - Marc

05/05/2005 Grant this screen seems to be set up for a big screen when I added something? Tried to get an arrow in the corner to shorten it up but couldn't figure it out. Gave me something to do for about 5 minutes. Didn't figure it out. Heidi Grant says he doesn't have a picture of you to put on the member page. You should send him one. I have a 3rd grade picture of you but it wouldn't be good for on here. Sorry I can't help you out with any picture because I never went to any reunions. We had record lows at the beginning of the week and then today was very nice out. Nights are still kind of cold. Found lots of mushroom so far. My son caught a 50 inch muskee but they didn't have a net so they couldn't lift it out of the water. "Fish Stories" Really they do have some big fish where they fish. I like catfish myself. Pond raised. I don't like river catfish to much you can taste the river in them. chao...Diane

05/02/2005 - Does anyone have any pictures of the 20th year reunion at the Elks Club that they can scan in to the reunion page. I would like to see some. Heidi Franklin

04/14/05 Ho hum to you, too, Diane. I'm paying attention. And the weather here in San Jose is very nice indeed.
Here is a little humor for those who are paying attention - a reward for your loyalty. Be sure to start at the bottom of the list with "Back In The Trunk", and proceed upwards. It is not my responsibility if you view the "Everyone Else..." one at the top, but consider yourself warned by the title that it is quite tasteless and inappropriate for the kids. Otherwise, enjoy Trunk Monkey Videos --Grant

04/06/05- Hey Grant that google satellite map is new. I got to fly over my old house and really all over. That is neat. Where I live now it cannot zoom in that close, but the bigger cities do. There sure is alot of pools in Gilroy. Did everyones house have one or what. Reggie you sure know Mt. Madonna good. I don't ever remember seeing the boardwalk from up there. I'll have to make it a point to see that next time I'm in California, which might be a long time from now according to the price of gas. How much is it in California. About a zillion and a half dollars. Here I'm paying 2.24 for ethenol super. I only buy american made gas. F.S. is my gas of choice. Phillips is still American last I checked. I buy Phillips sometimes. They don't have Chevron/Standards out this way. Chevron is foriegn gas anyway. I wish they would uncap some of those oil wells in Oklahoma/Texas. There are thousands- all capped off. Gee I wonder why. They need war money that is why and that is one way to get it out of my pocket. Oh well what can you do. Not much, but pay the price or maybe ride a bicycle. I would if I didn't work so far away. Reggie you must be very proud of your son. He is going back to Iraq a second time? Sounds like he has a hard job. Those people are crazy over there. I hope he stays safe and you and your wife can keep your sanity while hes over there. Loren that is neat that you camp...with a tent trailer even. Those are pretty nice. I just can't make myself camp like that anymore. Well I guess I could...but I don't know...maybe if the camp set itself up and I only had to sit there I wouldn't mind so much. We have a state park here which is about 5 minutes from my house but I just can't see leaving my nice comfortable bed here and going out there and sleeping in a tent...well maybe....but I'd go home in the middle of the night probably.:-) but it is neat to go out in the country where it is really dark and seeing all the stars. That's pretty fun to do. And there is plenty of country around here. I just have to go about 3 blocks and what do you know I'm in the country. lol. I camped in Oklahoma a few time when I lived there but it was so dang hot most of the time I'd end up miserable. Well that 's about enough from me for today....Later Diane

On another note. I would like to share a News media article about our son Lt. Cesar Zapata who is a U.S.Army Infantry Officer and stationed in Ft.Hood,Texas. He has already done one tour in Iraq and getting ready to do another tour in a few months. We were just notified by News media called Armytimes.com, plus some other well known News Media. Cesar is our first born. We are so proud of him.

Enjoy the photos.

Your Thoughts!

3/31/05 I have a question..on the 30 year class reunion. In photo #3 sitting next to you Barb on the right. Who is that lady with the glasses and who is the man sitting next to her? I can't figure it out. I hate to think that I'm losing my memory but I can't even put a name to her or him. So maybe if you say a name it will ring a bell. I can't believe after looking at the pictures how many I'd forgotten, but then when I see them it all comes back....but I can't get these 2 and that bugs me. Diane

The accounting page is just informative. I thought that it is fair to let people know the costs. It might be nice to share the costs, but it is not much, and not a problem for me right now.

3/29/05 Hi everyone..what has everyone been up to? Grant the 'remember me' on the login in page is new? I always thought it was there...but if it wasn't it is a good thing. What is that accounting page for? Do you need us to chip in a couple dollars for that? Just let me know. Well I checked out the 'Burning Man Link' all I can say is 'What is it?' Good lord not my kind of thing..I think maybe they took to many drugs in the 70's? Reggie do you rock climb and have you ever rock climbed in Yosemite? Rock climbing I would like. I bet its fun and it looks like good exercise. Yosemite was always my favorite place to camp. It's probably to crowded now I just remember it from 30 or 40 years ago. It was so nice then. I think I liked the mountains there. Here there is no mountains. Just some bluffs along the Mississippi. They have a state park called Palisades not to far from here so I guess if I need a view from up high I could go there but it just isn't as good as some views you can get at Mt. Madonna. Like when you hike to the back of Mt. Madonna you can see the valley. That is nice on a clear day. Of course that was along time ago and if I hiked to the back of Mt. Madonna (if I still could) I would disappointed if they had houses up by there. Please tell me they don't yet. Mt. Madonna still looked about the same in 2002 when I was up there. I didn't do any hiking that day though. I see they moved the white deer closer to the ranger office so people wouldn't hurt them I think it said. Who in their right mind would try to 'hurt the deer?' There is just alot more 'crazys' these days I guess. Well I thought I'd just write something to see if this still worked. It's getting to be spring here. Someone said 70! I hope they are right. I think I need to make a list of 'things to get done.' Some of you should also make a list and don't forget to add on there....Write something in the class of 74 chat room! Because if I can, you can too. As you can tell by what you just read....anything will do...you don't really have to have anything great to say...just say it so we all have something to read. Oh yeah... I forgot to sign this.....--Diane

02/25/05 Hello Reggie... It's always great to hear from you. You seem to get around the world a bit, too. My family just returned from a few days at Tahoe. Got some good skiiing. Visited Loren in Reno last night. It sounds like we should check out that brew pub in Gilroy. --Grant

Wondering if your anywhere near this event which is coming in the next few months. Have you ever gone to it.. Sounds like a trippy event to go to..

Hey did you guys know that Gilroy has a Beer Brewing company located on the cornor of Monterey street and 10th St, next to the Chevron gas station wow.. It's called Coastal Beers or something.. Anyways Delia and I were invited last Saturday night to a Valentines dinner there. They had Tri-tip steaks, all the beer, wine you could drink plus dancing. It was great partyplenty of food.... Met a lots of old Gilroy seniors citizens locals and Gilroy high school friends. Dennis Borosa, and others. Delia Diaz and friends were there. Spoke to Sheri Tsuda who was dancing a strom hard...

Oh yes... I'd like to share a Radio station called (Beirut Nights.com) in Lebanon. I've been listening to this Radio station for a while and when I was overseas a few weeks ago. Music will add some excitment to your life... Just listen to the music and RELAX.... Well if your working near a computer and alone it's good tunes... Music is all mix especially for you USA/Euro/Asian/Italian/Spain/Greek/Arabic.. http://beirutnights.com/

02/06/05 Yes, I got photos of the Taj Mahal. How magnificent it is, beyond the photos and descriptions. It will take a few days to recover and get back to web editing to post some. The journey home from Delhi took about 30 hours including stops in Bangalore, Frankfurt, LA, and finally San Jose. --Grant

2/3/05 Hello everyone. I just flew from Bangalore to Delhi today. What an amazing world this is in India. The work will be done Friday. On Saturday, I plan to visit the Taj Mahal. After I return (Sunday) and recover from the 30+ hour journey, I plan to share some more details of the trip. --Grant

2/1/05 Hey Barb, Nancy McGahey-Robinson here. I have been watching the progress of our website and was really glad to see your bio finally pop up. I live in San Martin, about 5 miles from you. Where are you taking Line Dance Lessons? Let's get together soon. My phone number is in the directory.

1/31/05 Hi Barb. Thank goodness you wrote something! Now maybe someone else will too. Your pictures are great! Is that Cindy? I think it is..? I say she should write something too. Grant is great about helping if you need any help. So you live by (or in) the flea market. I was trying to remember where it was. How long has it been open? I left in 1979 and never came back so I'm wondering if I'm just remembering the San Jose Flea Market? I think I may have gone to a M.H. one when it just opened. Is it (the flea market) back towards San Martin more? This is killing me I can't remember. Well it's nice to see someone adding stuff so thanks....you are very brave! Talk to ya later Diane

1/31/05 Ok folks .....if I can write about myself so can you!! I finally worked on my page. I have been trying to get Cindy Lawton to do the same. But nothing yet. Of course I had to email Grant several times to ask questions but he has been very kind to me and didn't make me feel too stupid! Ha! I have really enjoyed reading about many of you! I hope more of you will bite the bullet like I did and sit down and write about yourself! Come on Cin....get with it!! bye for now....Barb Rocca Ahlin

1-17-05 Hello, Diane. Happy new year. I think they're all taking a long winter's nap. How are we going to find the rest of the class? And we need some new content.

Who else out there is paying attention? Drop a comment into the chat room before we send the paramedics. --Grant

1-17-05 Well I guess I will type something on here just to see if it works still. Yep it does. I don't have much to say. It's cold, but I already said that...but now it really really cold but not as cold as Minnesota. We are in the single digits at least. Tonight is supposed to be 5 below. Snow is better than this...but not snow like Nevada got. What was that? 14 foot of snow and still falling? That is crazy snow and this is crazy cold. Even my perenials that usually make it through the winter are looking pretty iffy. Spring will tell. This makes me appreciate indoor pools since I still like to swim. I would love to have an aquatic center like they have in Morgan Hill here (at least in the summer time) but we don't. That place was pretty nice. Well that is about all for now. If you'd like to type on here log in-select edit-put the cursor on the brown line and hit enter and then backspace and start typing. Not to difficult once you figure it out. Then hit the save button on the edit screen.

12-21-04 Good job on the home page Grant. Where do you get your animation from? It's freezing here...but not much snow yet...that is a good thing really. Haven't seen much else new on here lately. Hope everyone has a nice Christmas. I have 5 days off this week.....but I have 4 days off every week anyway so I can't complain. :-) I smash all my work into 3 ...12 hour days ....not for everyone but I like it. Diane

12-03-04 December already. It's cold here. Everyone has their shopping done already or like me and haven't even thought about it? Well just thought I'd type something. I see Heidi is a new member. Hi Heidi. What happened to the people that we went to grade school with at St. Mary's? Where is Francine F. do you know? Haven't seen her since Gavilan. --Diane

11-28-04 Glad to see you made it back Grant. Japan just had another slightly large earthquake today. Didn't get the details. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I cooked my turkey the day before this year and it came out really good like that. I soaked it in chicken broth all night. Sure made it nice the next day. Your pictures are definitely being looked at on here. Now for some to just make a page for themselves or a link to their own would work too. Later ---Diane
