Here's my story!

After graduating from Gavilan in 1976, I attended The Bryman School and became a medical assistant. During this time I met and married my husband Jim Ahlin from Morgan Hill. I worked for 4 years at a clinic in Morgan Hill before we started our family. My husband's family owned and operated the Morgan Hill Flea Market and in 1977 we bought it from them. I had never been to a flea market before I met Jim and never expected I would end up living in the middle of one. Our home is smack in the middle of the 5 acre property.

The flea market has brought us many enjoyable experiences and we have many wonderful friends that have become like family to us throughout these years.

Jim and I have 3 sons, Tim is 23, Stephen is 21, and Mark is 18 years old. Tim got married to a wonderful Hollister girl last year and had his wedding in our backyard at the flea market. It was the first time in 40 years that the flea market was closed on a Saturday!

All three of our sons have attended Gavilan as their parents did. Tim then went on to graduate from San Diego State in Film, TV and New Media. He now lives in Morgan Hill with his wife and works at KSBW Channel 8 news in Salinas. Stephen lives in San Diego and is attending college and working down there. And Mark is currently attending Gav.

I work for the Morgan Hill Unified School District. My day is split up between Central High School, where I work as the Attendance Clerk and Nordstrom Elementary, where I am the Health Assistant. I truly enjoy both jobs and get the experience of working with kids ranging from high school age down to elementary ages.

Jim is talking about retiring in 2 years, which means selling our home and business property. We plan on staying in Morgan Hill. It will be a big change for us but look at this as another adventure in our lives!

Below is a picture of Cindy Lawton Ostrander and me taken before our last class reunion.  Cindy and I have remained best friends throughout the years!  We see each other as often as possible, although with Cindy living in Redding our visits are about 4 times a year.  But emailing keeps us in touch weekly!

Hi again to all classmates of 1974!  Get busy and write about yourselves!

Barb
